The first independent was held on April 14, 1985 in Cumming, Georgia. We were both very nervous and excited about our first Specialty, but it was a success thanks to a tremendous effort by Gary & Jody House, John Brock , Johnny & Rosemary Carter, Loretta & Jim Frawley, David & Sheila Qualls, Mike & Susan Lavin, Phil & Jill Ready, Max & Laura Manor, Murray Mullinax, and Cindy & Dave Goodman. We had an outstanding response with 152 dogs entered in the show with 220 entries. The was our first, but not our last.

It was a very hot day in Atlanta, in 1974, and several (fairly novice) Siberian Husky owners were patiently waiting for their turn in the ring. We started chatting to each other and found that we all had one thing in common--our love for our dogs. Well, one thing led to another and we decided to have a meeting to discuss forming a club. Why did we want a club? First of all clubs were very social in the 70's; and secondly, we all wanted to learn more about the Siberian Husky in particular and dogs in general.
